In its commitment to support transporters and truck drivers’ community, Shriram Foundation, the social arm of Shriram Group, launched a Mobile Clinic to monitor and provide medical assistance to drivers on the go.
The foundation also awarded education scholarships to drivers’ children at the event organized at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavana, Bengaluru.
Karnataka Minister of Health and Family Welfare, U T Khader graced the occasion to launch the Mobile Clinic and also distributed the scholarship cheques to the awardees.
On the occasion, U G Revankar, Managing Director, Shriram Transport Finance Company Ltd. (STFC) said, “It is our endeavour to provide transporters and truck drivers’ with the best possible services, including healthcare, especially when they are travelling long distances. The Mobile Clinic will definitely come as a necessary aid to our drivers who will have the convenience of availing medical assistance on the go.”
With health of truck drivers being essential to their well being and work, Shriram Foundation launched its fully equipped Mobile Clinic medical service, which will be available at Transport Hubs or crucial stopovers where drivers can have themselves examined or seek medical assistance. The Mobile Clinic will have doctors in addition to essential and lifesaving medical equipment’s.
Shriram has tied up with Wockhardt hospital to operate and manage these mobile clinics. Wockhardt will provide their doctors on these vans and will also dispense medicines. Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala, Executive Director- Wockhardt Ltd. and Ajhay R Somvanshi, Director - Wockhardt Foundation, were also present on this occasion.
