Come December and the travel experience at Mumbai airport for those in first and business class on at least nine international airlines will change forever.

The airport claims that it will be the first in the country to have a premium check-in class unit, said Rajgopal Narayanan, Lead, Joint Control Centre, Mumbai Airport.

The airport is in talks with nine international airlines for a new separate check-in counter for first and business class passengers, which will be secluded and away from the section where economy class passengers flying on the same aircraft will be checking in.

In this area, passengers will be met by MIAL meet-and-greet staff who will take them to the exclusive check-in area. They will be made comfortable while the meet and greet staff complete the check-in and baggage formalities on portable devices that have been provided to them.

“Passengers will be able to clear security and then immigration through the fast-track route in about three minutes and will be taken to their airline lounge where they will be made comfortable till the staff is ready to board them,” a senior MIAL staffer said.

Besides others, the new check-in counter will mean good news for celebrities and top-notch honchos as they will be able to pass through Mumbai airport without being mobbed or bothered.
