SpiceJet received three Q400 NextGen turboprop aircraft from Bombardier this week taking the total fleet size to 15. With an aim to enhancing air connectivity to tier-II and tier-III cities and some other short haul destinations, SpiceJet had placed the order of these aircraft, the airline said in a release. The Q400 NextGen turboprop aircraft can accommodate 78 passengers. SpiceJet had entered into agreement with Bombardier for the supply of aircraft and has options to get 15 more Q-400 aircraft. All of the delivered 15 Q-400 aircraft were financed by the EDC (Export Credit of Canada) facility agreed in June 2011. “SpiceJet has grown aggressively in the last 26 months adding 29 aircraft,” SpiceJet Chief Executive Officer Neil Mills said. SpiceJet has a market share of 19.5 per cent in the Indian domestic market. The airline currently operates more than 330 daily flights to 39 Indian cities and 5 international destinations.
