The country’s low-cost airline SpiceJet will launch three weekly non-stop services between Muscat and Ahmedabad from August 29.
SpiceJet has entered into a partnership with the Oman-based travel and tour operator Khimji House of Travel (KHOT), officials said.
The airline will operate three weekly flights on every Monday, Thursday and Friday from its base in Ahmedabad.
It was announced here that the inaugural incoming flight from Ahmedabad will arrive on August 29. The flight’s evening departure from Ahmedabad will benefit a sizeable number of people that come into Oman from western India.
Onward domestic destinations operating with a non-stop flight from Ahmedabad include Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai and Pune.
“Gujarat is a fast growing State in India and Ahmedabad is the business capital. It is one of the fastest growing regions in India and is also one of the most industrialised,” M.C. Jose, CEO, Projects & Logistics, Khimji Ramdas, said.
Cashio Vettom, Sr Divisional Manager, KHOT, said that the non-stop flight to Ahmedabad will be of great convenience not only to those travelling to that city but also to those going onward to the surrounding cities like Bhuj, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Surat, Vadodara, and Mt Abu in Rajasthan.
“We are confident that the travel trade in Oman as well as the general public will see this as an attractive new option for those wanting to fly to western India and onward,” he said.
Speaking about the new flight, Pankaj Khimji, Director of the Khimji Ramdas Group, said, “We are pleased to have non-stop connectivity between Muscat & Ahmedabad. Trade and cultural ties between the western Indian state of Gujarat and the Sultanate of Oman dates back to over thousands of years, and continues to thrive even to this day.”
