Tata firms expertise on display at Aero India

The Tata Group’s design and manufacturing competence is on display at the Aero India 2013.

Organised by the Defence Ministry, the Ninth International Exhibition on Aerospace, Defence and Civil Aviation is on from February 6 to 10 in Bangalore.

This year, 10 Tata companies — Tata Advanced Materials Ltd, Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, Tata Elxsi, Tata Industrial Services Ltd, Tata Steel (Speciality Steels), Tata Technologies, TAL Manufacturing Solutions, Titan Industries (Precision Engineering Division), Tata Consultancy Services and Tata Power (Strategic Electronics Division) are participating in the show.

Aerospace solutions

On offer from these firms is a range of solutions in areas such as creative design, innovative engineering, programme management, manufacturing strength, simulation studies and product life-cycle management.

The Tata Group offers solutions to the global supply chain of leading aerospace and defence OEMs and suppliers in areas ranging from engineering to production, and from design to manufacture, including players who build to specification. The Group has cemented relationships with several global aircraft manufacturers and OEMs.

Track record

The Tata Group has historically been associated with the aerospace industry and has taken several significant initiatives, in the commercial, military and business jet platforms to establish a meaningful presence.

The group’s products include aerostructures for OEMs such as Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky, which Tata Advanced Systems manufactures. It is also setting up manufacturing facilities for missiles, radars, electro-optics, and unmanned aerial systems.

Tata Technologies has a track record of engaging with aerospace manufacturers and their supply chains for product development engineering in the aerostructure area.

Tata Power’s Strategic Electronics Division has been a leading private sector player in the indigenous development, supply and lifecycle support of mission-critical strategic Defence systems.

Nova Integrated Systems is a key Tata Group venture with expertise in the design, development and manufacture of missile, radar, UAVs and electro-optic systems.

Tata Steel (speciality steels) provides high-integrity steels to major commercial and military aerospace programmes around the world.

Tata Advanced Materials is engaged in the design and manufacture of composite components, and sub-assemblies for defence, aerospace and industrial applications.
