Road transport workers, backed by 11 central trade unions, including those backed by the BJP and the Congress, on Thursday held a rally in Jantar Mantar to protest against the Road Transport and Safety Bill, 2014. Accusing the Ministry of failing to take into consideration the road conditions, infrastructure and awareness of the people on traffic rules and road safety, the unions resolved to organise conventions in all the States between January 15 and 31, 2015 and threatened to hold a nation-wide strike in the first week of March.
