Trujet, part of the Hyderabad-based Turbo Megha Airways, has announced it has received the Air Operator Certificate from aviation regulator DGCA. This will enable it to expand flight services to all metros in the country.Trujet has also been awarded Scheduled Commercial Operator permit and can now connect Nanded–Bombay route under UDAN scheme.
Turbo Megha Airways, which is the holding company of regional carrier Trujet, has been granted the AOC under the scheduled commuter operator category.
Vankayalapati Umesh, Managing Director, Turbo Megha Airways, in a statement, said “We will provide air connectivity to metropolitan cities now and connect the underserved cities with the big metros and contribute towards the overall economic growth.”
Under the category, air operators are allowed to operate with aircraft having a maximum weight not exceeding 40 tonnes.Turbo Megha is one of the five air operators which won bids to operate on 128 routes connecting 70 airports, of which 31 are unserved. Under the regional connectivity Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme, fares are capped at ₹2,500 for one-hour flight.
The airline currently operates three ATR-72 aircraft and has acquired the fourth of the same type. The new RCS sectors under UDAN project are Hyderabad-Nanded-Hyderabad and Hyderabad-Kadapa- Hyderabad. Under the SCO category, Trujet will connect Nanded and Mumbai.
