Days before Narendra Modi travels to the UK, Virgin Atlantic has called on the UK Government to slash the price of a 10 year visit visa for Indian nationals travelling to the UK to be reduced in price to the cost of a six month visa. "This would cut the cost of a 10 year visit visa from £737 (₹73,700) to £85 (INR8,500),” the airline said in a statement.

The statement adds that the visit of the Chinese Premier, Xi Jinping to the UK saw the announcement two weeks ago that the standard Chinese visitor visa to the UK would be extended from 6 months to 2 years multiple entry, with plans to introduce a new 10 year multiple entry visit visa for the same price, £85.

Modi will be in the UK from November 12 to 14 and is to meet Prime Minister David Cameroon and the Queen.
