Flyers will get more frequent routes between Tokyo and India due to Vistara’s codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines (JAL). 

According to the agreement, flyers can book tickets from 26 February 2019 on all channels and major GDS systems, for travel from 28 February 2019. 

JAL and Vistara already have an interline/through check-in partnership and the two airlines had signed a Memorandum of Understanding in September 2017 to pursue commercial opportunities together.

India and Japan have strong trade relations which will be benefit the inbound and outboud traffic for these airlines. According to the statistics of the Ministry of External Affairs, the trade from India to Japan is worth ₹619 billion, while the trade from Japan to India is worth 1,044 billion. According to the statistics the number of Japanese nationals residing in India as of as of October, 2017 are 9,197 and number of Indian nationals residing in Japan as of December, 2017 arre 31,689.

And, we look to further cooperate with Vistara to open up additional opportunities for both airlines.”

The codeshare flights will offer convenient connections to and from a daily flight that JAL already operates to Delhi directly from Tokyo Narita. Japan Airlines and Vistara flights operate from the same terminal at Delhi (T3).

Japan Airlines customers travelling on Vistara will have complimentary meals and will be able to choose between three different cabins, including India’s only Premium Economy class.
