V. O. Chidambaranar Port (Formerly the Tuticorin Port) created a record in handling of limestone.
On December 11, a quantity of 25,323 tonnes of limestone was discharged from the Vessel Massallia at Berth 4. This was highest ever achieved in a single day in the port, says a press release from the port.
This record achievement was possible due to deployment of port's TRF cranes for discharge and the high productivity labour available in the Port.
Seaport Shipping (P) Ltd was the ship's agent and Chettinadu Logistics (P) Ltd was the stevedores and clearing agents for the cargo, the release said.
