Former state minister and senior Congress leader Manas Ranjan Bhunia on Monday said the Trinamool-led State Government was maintaining a “mysterious silence” on the current Haldia port impasse.
“The mysterious silence of the State Government is a matter for concern. The Chief Minister should immediately call a tripartite meeting among the Union Government, representative of the Ministry of Shipping and the State Government to sort out the turbulent situation at Haldia port. Otherwise, the prospects of Haldia port will dry out,” Bhunia said at a press conference here.
He pointed out that continuation of such a situation would send a “negative’’ message on industrialisation in the state.
According to him, the State Government should take immediate measures to save the industry and the port. “I will submit a report to Minister of Shipping G.K. Vasan and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,’’ he said.
