Civil Aviation Minster Ajit Singh says that the work on three new greenfield airports at Mopa in Goa, Navi Mumbai and Kannur in Kerala is expected to begin by end of this financial year.
The Minister added that the Government is also looking at having a new route dispersal guidelines, which will give focus to tier 3 and 4 cities. Singh said that a consultant has been hired to look at the route dispersal guidelines and a report is expected in the next two months.
The Minister says that disciplinary action has been initiated against 29 officers, of which 23 belong to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Six are from the Airports Authority of India. Nine officers have been placed under suspension and orders have been issued to lodge FIR in three matters, Singh said. The Minister was addressing the Economic Editors conference in Delhi on Tuesday.
