With an eye on newer markets, self-driven car rental start-up Zoomcar on Wednesday launched its operations in the Pink City, making it the 14th city in India where the service will be available.

The hiring charges will be between ₹70 and ₹350 an hour, depending on the car model and its class.

“There are 60 cars in city and we aim to increase the fleet to 200 in coming months,” said Zoomcar CEO Greg Moran.

Claiming to have a 70 per cent market-share in self-driven car rental industry of about 3,500 cars fleet, he said the company would expand aggressively.

Our current national fleet size is about 2,600 cars and in a year’s time, this will be expanded to 10,000 cars.

“We have rolled out ZAP to increase fleet size. ZAP model will help us increase the fleet size more sharply. We have received 6 lakh bookings in India in last three years of our operations,” Moran said.

Talking about viability of service in Jaipur, Moran said that with splendid fortresses, majestic palaces, tranquil temples and beautiful havelis;, Jaipur is an ideal tourist destination.

Given these realities and its strong demographic base, we expect Jaipur to be its fastest growing city in the State, he said.
