The public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs) have released 1,35,278 LPG connections under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin LPG Vitaran Yojana (RGGLVY) as on March 1 incurring expenditure of Rs 19.25 crore.
This information was given by Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas Panabaaka Lakshmi to Lok Sabha on Friday.
A scheme for providing one-time grant to BPL families in the rural areas for release of new domestic LPG connection under RGGLVY is in operation.
According to the scheme, the security deposit for the domestic LPG cylinder and pressure regulator is paid from a fund created through contribution from the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds of ONGC, OIL, GAIL, BPCL, HPCL and IOC.
