Terming the serial bombings in Mumbai as heinous acts against humanity, an organisation of Indian-origin people in the US has said these brutal acts are unforgivable and unjustified criminal actions directed to create widespread fear among innocent citizens of India.

“Our global membership shares the pain and anguish of our brethren and sisters in India, and extend our condolences to the families of the victims and offer prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured,” said the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO).

“We believe that these continuing series of senseless attacks are meant to cause terror among innocent citizens, and we affirm that terror will not succeed as the will of decent people shall overcome such criminal acts,” said the US-based organisation that represents the people of Indian-origin from across the globe.

GOPIO also commended the Indian Government and the Maharashtra State for their diligent efforts in providing emergency services to the survivors and their families.

“We fully support all measures taken by the Government to bring security, calm and confidence to the people and urge all efforts to prevent similar attacks in the future,” it said.

Expressing deep and abiding concern for the victims of the tragedy, their families, friends and associates, GOPIO said it is indeed a time of deep sorrow for India, a very nervous time for the people of Mumbai, foreigners affected by the heinous acts and citizens of India in general.

“We are very confident that the people of India will endure this national disaster while they retain courage, sense of dignity, pride, their values and their freedom. There is no doubt that a resilient nation as India will overcome these brutal and senseless attack,” GOPIO said.

Meanwhile, the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) has also condemned that attack.

“As physicians who are taught and trained to preserve life, it is unthinkable to see the actions of those who have been trained to destroy innocent lives,” said the newly elected AAPI President, Dr Sunita Kanumury.

“We condemn in the strongest terms possible these attacks and call on the US Government to assist the Indian government in this investigation.

If the suspects are traced back to Pakistan, it is time for our Government to take the appropriate actions to ensure we cut off the source of terrorism emanating from Pakistan once and for all,” said the AAPI president.

In another statement, the Non Resident Indians for Secular and Harmonious India strongly condemned the coordinated bomb blasts in Mumbai which took the lives of 18 people and injured over hundreds on Wednesday.

“We condemn this horrible, inhuman, terrorist action and offer our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and prayers and sympathies to the injured and their families,” it said.

“We ask the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra to investigate the crime, arrest these cold blooded murderers and punish them to the fullest intent of the law,” it said.
