1993
In 1993 around 257 people were killed and over 700 people were injured when a series of bomb blasts occurred across Mumbai city. Some of the places that were targeted included the BSE building, Air India headquarters in Nariman Point and a petrol pump Dadar – a stone's throw from the headquarters of Shiv Sena.
1997
A blast occurred near Jama Masjid, a crowded area and very close to the office of the Police Commissioner. Three people were injured.
2002
In December, two people were killed and 31 injured when in a bomb blast that was planted in a BEST bus outside Ghatkopar railway station.
The Ghatkopar blast was followed by blasts at Mumbai Central railway station – 25 people injured, Mulund railway station – 11 people killed and 25 injured, Vile Parle and Bandra.
2003
Two bombs blasts at Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar killed 46 people and injured more than 160 people. In both places bombs were planted in taxis parked in the area.
2006
A series of bomb blasts in local trains killed around 181 people and injured 890 people.
2008
Landmarks in Mumbai like the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Oberoi and Taj Mahal Hotels, Leopold Café in Colaba, Cama Hospital, Nariman House Jewish community centre, and Metro cinema were attacked by terrorists armed with bombs and guns. Around 166 people were killed in these attacks. There was an explosion at Mazagaon as well.
