Let the Congress come clean and give the exact stand on the issue of demonetisation, said Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Urban Development, Information and Broadcasting.
It is running a disinformation campaign against the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi by making absurd charges, he said in an interaction with newspersons.
Since Independence, no government has launched such a large, multi-pronged war against corruption and black money. This is how Modi is living up to expectations of people and confidence reposed on him. A new ‘corruption free India’ is beginning to take shape. Modi wants honest Indians to be king of new India in the making, he said.
Corruption was spreading like cancer and the entire country was agitated. But nobody took a bold step.
Now the Congress is questioning Modi on demonetisation . “What has the Congress done in 50 years of being in power to unearth black money? They did not implement the Vanchu Committee on demonetisation, the Supreme Court advice in 2011 to set up a SIT to bring back black money stashed abroad or notify the Benami Property Act passed by Parliament in 1998. What are the reasons for not doing these?” he asked the Congress. However, the Congress did not do anything. “They did not have political will to fight against black money and corruption,” he said.
Modi has shaken black money holders and the corrupt by announcing withdrawal of high denomination notes in the first week of November.
This is the beginning of the victory of the war against the corrupt and black money holders. The war will continue till the last rupee of black money is traced out,” he said.
In 2014 election, the major issues were black money, corruption and lack of good governance and policy paralysis.
