The Mangalore-based scented candle exporter, Primacy Industries, has restarted production at its plant at Baikampady industrial area in Mangalore.
On January 10 this year, the factory and offices of this facility were gutted in a fire accident. Though there were no casualties or injuries in the accident, the entire plant and machinery, equipment, raw material, packaging items and finished products worth several crores of rupees was reduced to ashes.
V.K. Talithaya, President of Primacy Industries, said the factory has been rebuilt and production has commenced within six months of the accident. “The fire destroyed everything and we felt devastated, but it kindled our determination to build the factory all over again in the shortest possible time and we have now done it,” he said in a press release here.
Gautham Pai, Chairman of Primacy Industries, said this feat of the management team draws inspiration from the Manipal Group’s guiding philosophy that regards ‘people first’. (Primacy Industries is a constituent of Manipal Group).
Sagar Mukhopadhyay, Vice-President (Corporate Affairs), Manipal Group, said re-commissioning the plant within six months was important from the standpoint of delivering the commitment the company had made to its employees, customers and vendors.
