The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, is to pay a state visit to Myanmar from May 27 to May 29.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs has said that this will be the first visit by the Indian Prime Minister in 25 years to Myanmar.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by the External Affairs Minister, Mr S.M. Krishna, and senior officials. A delegation of Indian business leaders will also visit Myanmar at the same time as the Prime Minister is in Myanmar.
During the visit, the Prime Minister and the Myanmar President, Mr Thein Sein, will hold discussions on bilateral, regional and other issues of mutual interest, the statement adds.
