Meet discusses power sector issues

Power Ministers from 15 States as well as Delhi are attending a two-day conference which was opened here on Friday by Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal. The conference discussed a whole spectrum of issues relating to power distribution, transmission and conservation as well as the various power projects. It also discussed transmission loss, financial stability of State electricity boards, gas-based power plants, smart grid etc. A major aim of the conference is to take the views of the States on the proposed amendments to the Electricity Act which the Centre plans to get passed in the upcoming winter session of Parliament.
