Mr V. Narayanasamy, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, said he expects a breakthrough in the impasse over the Koodankulam nuclear power project.
“The talks are on… We are hopeful of a solution soon,” he said at the sidelines of a conference here on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Mr Narayanasamy briefed the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, on the situation at Koodankulam, which has been facing agitations against the commissioning of two nuclear power units.
Mr Narayanasamy had been sent as the Centre's emissary to Tamil Nadu to look into the questions raised by the protestors.
The Centre and the State Government had set up two different panels to address concerns over safety and environment impact of the Koodankulam nuclear project, where two 1,000 MWe units are in advanced stages of commissioning.
The two panels have met twice, but are yet to come out with their reports.
