Buoyed by government winning the FDI vote in Parliament, more bills were likely to be introduced in the coming session covering Banking, Insurance and Pension sectors, Union Minister of state in PMO V Narayanasamy said today.
“In the coming session, we will bring in Parliament (bills) regarding banking reforms, FDI in insurance, amendments to Companies Act and pension schemes,” he told reporters at the airport.
These were part of UPA government’s efforts at not only attracting more foreign investment but also ensuring creation of more employment opportunities, he said.
“The government is taking all steps to ensure six per cent growth rate despite the global economic situation,” he said.
Among others in the anvil were bills aimed at ensuring protection of whistle blowers and anti-corruption measures, he added.
The Minister thanked UPA’s key constituent DMK, other Congress allies and those parties which had supported the Manmohan Singh government in sailing through FDI during voting.
