The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has given more time for tax audit assessees to file their audit reports electronically.
Such assessees can now do electronic filing of their tax audit reports till October 31, the CBDT has said.
Prior to this relaxation, tax audit assessees were required to do electronic filing of their tax audit reports by September 30.
This is the first year when assessees were required to electronically file their tax audit reports.
This relaxation has been given in the wake of difficulties faced by assessees in uploading their audit reports electronically, the CBDT has said.
However, the CBDT has made it clear that tax audit assessees will have to file their tax audit reports manually with the jurisdictional assessing officer by September 30.
Although more time has been given for electronic filing, it has not brought much relief as manual filing has to be done within September 30, said Amit Maheshwari, Partner, Ashok Maheshwary & Associates, a chartered accountancy firm.
