A total of 120 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and 180 army personnel are steadily carrying out rescue operations at the Kalka Mail accident site near Malwa station here.
The units, which reached yesterday, include JCOs and other officers of 62 Infantry Brigade, Kanpur and four Infantry Division, Allahabad.
Army medical teams of 304 Field Hospital, 404 Field Hospital, Headquarter 62 Brigade Medical Corps comprising six doctors, four JCOs and 50 paramedical staff are taking part in the rescue work. About 10 ambulances have also been pressed into service.
Hydraulic and electric cutters along with other equipment are being used to pull out passengers trapped in the wrecked compartments of the train which derailed yesterday, Col A.D.S. Shillon said.
Seven survivors and 60 bodies have been extricated from the wreckage since 3:30 pm yesterday, he said, adding that more bodies are expected to be recovered.
