Public sector oil marketing companies have increased the price of petrol by Rs.3.13/litre and diesel by Rs.2.71/litre in New Delhi effective from Friday midnight. Prices will be revised in other States correspondingly on the same date.
The price of petrol in the Capital will now stand at Rs.66.29/litre while the price of diesel becomes Rs.52.28/litre.
Fuel prices were last revised on May 1 and rates were increased due to a steep rise in international prices while the rupee has also depreciated against the US dollar.
“Combined effect of both these factors warrants an upward revision in prices, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price increase,” said an Indian Oil statement.
