The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, emphasised the need for a fresh look at the oil and gas sector to bring in investments, technological upgradation and development of human resources.
He said this at a meeting with global oil & gas experts on Tuesday.
The interaction lasted for over two hours. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal, Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog Arvind Panagariya and Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, an official statement said.
“The discussions focussed on subjects such as increasing the share of gas in India’s energy mix, fresh investments in oil and gas exploration in India, regulatory frameworks, international acquisition of oil and gas assets, emerging areas such as shale gas and coal-bed methane as well as oil & gas sector related possibilities of ‘Make in India’,” the statement added.
