The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, will inaugurate the three-day ‘Emerging Kerala,' a biennial global event to showcase the investment opportunities across a wide spectrum of areas in Kerala on September 12.
The event will be held in Kochi from September 12-14.
The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation, the nodal investment promotion agency of the State Government, has signed a MoU with Confederation of Indian Industries, for promoting the event across the world.
The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) will be an event partner.
The three-day event will have participation of corporate leaders, heads of governments, foreign dignitaries, heads of major regulatory institutions, banks and financial institutions, renowned scholars, leading economists, eminent personalities from around the world.
The programmes to be held as part of the meet include business meets, sector-wise conclaves, domestic and international road shows, discussion and debates.
The State Government hopes to attract partnerships with potential investors for a slew of mega projects in the State.
Key projects identified
The key projects identified for partnerships include: Supplementary Gas Infrastructure; Vizhinjam International Container Trans-shipment Terminal; High-Speed Rail Corridor; Kochi-Coimbatore Industrial Corridor Project; Life Sciences Park Project; Electronic Hub Project; Power projects; Municipal waste management; Centre of Excellence in Higher Education.
The key sectors for investment promotion included IT and IT Enabled Service; Tourism; Health Care services; Engineering and automotive; Trade and Retailing; Food and Agro Processing and value addition etc.
