The Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) headed by Additional Secretary at Coal Ministry Zohra Chatterji is understood to have decided to de-allocate two mines allocated to Government firms.

At the same time, another eight blocks may face forfeiting of bank guarantees, sources said on Monday. The name of the blocks and companies owing them are not known. The IMG is reviewing more than 30 coal blocks allocated to Government firms.

Till now, the panel has recommended to Coal Minister de-allocation of 13 blocks allocated to private companies.

It also suggested to forfeit bank guarantee of nearly dozen private miners for not being able to meet milestones to exploit captive mines.
