The Attorney General, Mr Goolam Vahanvati, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director, Mr A.P. Singh, and the Law Secretary, Mr D.R. Meena, will appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Friday to give evidence on the ongoing probe in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
This will be the second time that the CBI Director will appear before the PAC. He had appeared before the PAC on February 15. He had then told the Parliamentary Panel that it would be wrong to say that the 2G spectrum allocation in 2008 had caused zero loss to the national exchequer.
Mr Vahanvati may be quizzed about the legal opinion he may have given to the Telecom Ministry when he was Solicitor General during the UPA-I regime.
The PAC has also called the Cabinet Secretary, Mr K.M. Chandrasekhar, and the Principal Secretary in Prime Minister's Office, Mr T.K.A. Nair, to depose before it on Saturday. The hearings on April 15-16 will be the last ones for the current PAC.
The term of the current PAC headed by Mr Murli Manohar Joshi will end on April 30 and indications are that the report on the 2G spectrum allocation scam will be finalised before this date.
