Mumbai seems to have faced the brunt of terror strikes in the country with 458 people being killed in various attacks by extremists in the last ten years.
“Mumbai has been a target for terrorists....458 lives were lost in terror attacks in Mumbai since 2000,” the Minister of State for Home, Mr Jitendra Singh, informed Rajya Sabha today.
The Minister said the state government has instructed all unit commanders to sensitise officers and men working under them and take steps to ensure safety and security of susceptible targets like iconic buildings, religious places, places of heavy footfalls, places frequented by foreigners etc.
“Nakabandis, checking of hotels, lodges are being conducted. Unit commanders have been instructed to sensitise security staff and management of vital installations, hotels, shopping malls, cinemas, bus stands and railway stations,” he said.
