The State Government has decided to establish an aerospace park near the Bengaluru International Airport Ltd (BIAL) at Devanahalli to attract global majors and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, the Industrial Development Commissioner, Mr Raj Kumar Khatri, said 984 acres had been earmarked for the park, out which 252 acres had been set aside for a special economic zone with incentives and facilities offered by the Union Government for 100 per cent dedicated export units.
US team coming
A 35-member US delegation, led by the Indo-US Business Council President, Mr Ron Somers, and representatives from Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell and Raytheon would call on the Chief Minister, Mr B.S. Yeddyurappa, on February 8 to discuss aerospace investment proposals, the Commissioner said in a note.
During the aero show, scheduled to be held here over five days from February 9, the Government has scheduled a series of meetings with business delegations from Germany, France, Russia, the US and other countries.
High-level talks
The Rolls-Royce India President, Mr Anil Shrikhande, and Honeywell Technology Lab's Mr Krishna Mikkilineni would hold talks with the Large and Medium Industry Minister, Mr Murugesh Nirani, and officials on February 9, followed by a delegation from North Carolina in the US, headed by its Commerce Department Secretary, Mr Keith Crisco, on February 10.
The Director of Lockheed Martin India Ltd , Mr Jagmohan Singh, the UK-based Wolver Hampton city council head, Mr Joy Patel, and a delegation from the French Aerospace Industries Association (Gifas) will also be calling on Mr Yeddyurappa to discuss their interests in the aerospace park, Mr Khatri said.
