The sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday conducted raids on many businesses and individuals as part of investigation into investments made by corporate entities into business ventures of Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, MP and President of YSR Congress Party.
The simultaneous raids began at 6.30 a.m. on Monday at the residences of Mr Reddy, State Home Secretary, Mr B.P. Acharya (in Emaar Properties case), venture capitalist and founder of Matrix Laboratories Mr N. Prasad, Hetero Drugs Managing Director, Mr Srinivas Reddy, among others.
The offices of Jagati Publications (the publisher of Telugu daily Sakshi) of Mr Jagan, Hetero Drugs and Bharathi Cements, India Cements and some other companies here were also raided.
The raids were also conducted on the properties of Mr Reddy in Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi, among other places.
About 15 teams of officials conducted the raids in Hyderabad which ‘might be continued depending on the need', according to CBI officials.
Acting on directions of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the CBI on Wednesday filed first information reports in cases on Mr Reddy and various issues pertaining to Emaar Properties.
