A Central team today visited the Farakka Barrage in Murshidabad district to take stock of the situation, days after the Chief Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, complained to the Prime Minister about the collapse of two sluice gates, leading to excess water flow to Bangladesh.
The Central Water Commission Chairman, Mr R.C. Jha, who is leading the team, told reporters that repair work of the broken Gate No 16 would be completed within the next two days. Repair work of Gate No 13, however, would take some more time, Mr Jha said.
