Ethiopia has set up its consulate in Bangalore to attract investments from the southern region in areas like dairy farming, agriculture, leather, textiles, steel, hospitality and education.

Mr Muktar Kedir, Ethiopian cabinet affairs minister and head of the Prime Minister's office, said “the key reason for setting up consulate in Bangalore is to utilise affordable and appropriate technologies, as well as skilled resources for enhancing the lives of our people and ushering in a green revolution.”

Ethiopia has appointed Mr Sai Ramakrishna Karuturi, Managing Director of Karuturi Global Ltd, as its honorary consul in Bangalore.

Mr Kedir said currently, there are many Indian companies engaged in agriculture, leather, mining and manufacturing making Indian entrepreneurs one of the biggest groups of foreign investors in Ethiopia.

Mr Karuturi said Ethiopia has adopted agriculture and rural centered development strategy known as agricultural development-led industrialisation (ADLI).

ADLI focuses on increasing small holder farm productivity and the expansion of commercial farms.
