The Urban Development Ministry has directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to ensure that the review of Master Plan Delhi-2021 (MOPD-2021) follows a participative and transparent process.
The Union Minister of Urban Development, Mr Kamal Nath, on Wednesday asked the DDA to create area-wise Master Plan review cells.
“Each cell will be headed by an officer of appropriate seniority and shall be responsible for a particular area of Delhi. The names of the officers heading the cells, along with their contact details, would be made available to the public and other associations in order to facilitate the receipt of representations,” he said in a Ministry release.
‘Open house'
The public should be encouraged to continue sending their suggestions up to April 30, 2012, he said, and asked the DDA to hold ‘Open House' in each area to factor in the ground realities.
The DDA was also told to create a “designated space” on their website to post each suggestion and comment on the Master Plan Review.
The Minister also set up an apex committee on the MPD 2021 review, headed by the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, which would formally submit the revised MPD–2021 for the Ministry's consideration. The first report of the Committee is likely to be submitted not later than June 30, 2012.
