The Madurai District Administration launched ‘Thoduvanam' – an information technology enabled grievance redressal mechanism, aimed at relieving the common man from waiting to hand over petitions at the Collectorate on Saturday.
According to Mr U. Sagayam, District Collector, the initiative is one of the facilities to bridge the urban-rural divide, under which people of select 50 panchayats could make use of the computer and internet facilities available at the Panchayat offices to register their grievances and an acknowledgement number would be given to petitioner through which they could follow the status of the petition online.
The petition would be forwarded to the department concerned and would be disposed of within seven to ten days.
