Kerala government today formed a ministerial sub-committee to work out details of implementing the Right to Services Act passed by the Assembly recently to ensure prompt delivery of the government services to all citizens.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters that the government was keen to implement the law within three months.
The sub-committee entrusted with the task comprised of Ministers of Finance, Revenue, Industry and Electricity. As part of the process, the Chief Secretary had been directed to hold consultations with secretaries and heads of all departments for effective implementation of the law, he said.
The legislation, passed by the Assembly on July 25, guaranteed every eligible person the right to obtain government services within a time frame.
It provided for time-bound redressal of grievances and prompt delivery of services, making government servants liable in case of default.
To start with, various government services, nine of them related to the police, had been brought under the purview of the legislation. The services provided by local bodies and public sector undertakings would also come under its purview.
