Criticising the Centre for hiking the prices of diesel, kerosene and LPG, the MDMK leader, Mr Vaiko, today said he would lead a state-wide agitation on June 28 to condemn the price hike and demanded its immediate rollback.
In a statement here, Mr Vaiko said the agitation would be held in Chennai and other district headquarters including Villupuram, Nagercoil and Thanjavur demanding for immediate rollback of the hike announced last night.
He said that the latest price hike would only benefit oil companies but would severely affect the common man.
The Centre had on Friday night hiked the prices of diesel and kerosene by Rs 3 and Rs 2, respectively. Prices of domestic LPG have also been increased by Rs 50 per cylinder, drawing all-round criticism from various quarters.
