Ministry imposes dumping duty on Pentaerythritol from EU

The Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on Pentaerythritol imports from the European Union (excluding Sweden).

This duty will be valid for a period of five years.

The petition seeking anti-dumping duty on Pentaerythritol imports from EU was filed by Kanoria Chemicals & Industries Ltd, Ankleshwar (Gujarat).

Pentaerythritol, an organic compound, is principally used in the surface coating industries.

User industries

It finds application in the manufacture of alkyl resin, plasticisers, printing inks, synthetic rubber, stabilisers for plastics, detonators, explosives, pharmaceuticals and synthetic lubricants

Based on the recommendations of the designated authority in its final findings, the Revenue Department has imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty of $ 379 per tonne on Pentaerythritol produced and exported by Perstorp Chemicals Gmbh.

For Pentaerythritol produced by Perstorp Chemicals Gmbh and exported by any other exporter from the EU (excluding Sweden), the duty has been pegged at $490 per tonne.

For all other producers and exporters of Pentaerythritol, the Revenue Department has levied a duty of $490 per tonne.
