The Modi-led Government has appointed senior Supreme Court advocate Mukul Rohatgi as the new Attorney General of India, the top law officer of the country.
Rohatgi had served as Additional Solicitor General in the earlier NDA regime.
His appointment comes a day after the erstwhile Attorney General Goolam Vahanvati and Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran resigned.
As per convention, the Attorney General and Solicitor General resign once there is a change of Government at the Centre.
