Three new hill stations proposed to be developed in Mulshi taluka have hit a “waterblock’’ with the irrigation department refusing to give the required no-objection certificate (NOC) on account of a severe water crisis in Pune district.

On May 19, the Maharashtra Government had issued a notification to develop these hill stations in the region to promote tourism. The ongoing Lavasa hill city project is also located in the same region.

According to the irrigation department, the sanction for water supply will have to come from the State Cabinet, and the application has been forwarded to it for approval.

The three new hill stations are being developed by Maharashtra Valley View Pvt Ltd, Aqualand India and Satind Infrastructure.
