The Orissa Chief Minister, Mr Naveen Patnaik, has flagged off the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack city bus service here in the satellite township Markat Nagar and new solid waste management facility in the city.
Mr Patnaik expressed hope that the services already available in other cities like Bhubaneswar, Puri and Khurda would go a long way in helping the commuters shuttling between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Initially, ten buses would ply between the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on one designated route which would start from Markat Nagar in Cuttack to A G Square in Bhubaneswar.
The Chief Minister also declared the commencement of mechanised street sweeping facility in the ‘Millennium city’ which is part of a mega project called Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management.
The project envisages sweeping of city streets and collection, transportation and disposal of garbage in a mechanised way.
Initially the facility is available in 36 of 54 wards of the city and would be extended to other parts in a phased manner, city Mayor Mr S.K. Ghosh said.
