The Railway Board team has inspected the Hyderabad metro rail project site and permitted the developers to opt for either steel or concrete girders when the elevated rail network crosses the railway tracks.
Mr A.K. Gupta, Additional Member (Works), Railway Board, held discussions with Mr N.V.S. Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, and senior engineers and officers of South Central Railway and L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd.
The deliberations covered technical and safety related issues of the project and the interface between Hyderabad Metro Rail and Indian Railways.
Issues related to metro rail technical parameters and the supportive role of railway board in the safety certification mechanism to be followed by the Commissioner of Railway Safety were discussed.
Design issues such as schedule of dimensions, detailed technical approvals for the designs and drawings of metro rail viaduct over the tracks of Indian Railways at the eight railway crossings and construction methodology of metro rail crossings have been sorted out.
