The Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly was adjourned for the day without transacting business with members of the opposition parties — the Telugu Desam and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi stalling the proceedings on their respective demands including seeking an adjournment motion on the liquor trade scam.

The second day of the Budget session was witness to pandemonium with members of the TDP and the TRS rushing to the well of the House after their demand for adjournment motions were rejected by the State Assembly Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar.

The Left parties, the CPI and the CPI (M) also wanted a discussion on the student doctors' strike which is causing hardship to people.

Slogan-shouting members of the TRS wanted the long-pending and pressing issue of Telangana be taken up and the TDP members moved an adjournment motion over the mega liquor trade licence scam, which is rocking the State.

This forced the Speaker to adjourn the House for the day.

Later speaking to the media, Mr G. Muddukrishnama Naidu of the TDP said that the liquor scam involved several politicians and required immediate discussion. He said that the recent report by the Anti Corruption Bureau had showed that payments were made to politicians, police and local officials. There was enough proof to nail those involved, he added.
