The Andhra Pradesh Government is evolving a ‘common interface’ to formulate draft proposals for inclusion in the 12th Five-Year Plan (2012-17).
The State plans to involve academic institutions and various implementing departments to identify the appropriate growth strategies to prepare an Approach to the 12th Five-Year Plan of the State, a Government report said.
With the focus of the proposed plan likely to be on “faster, inclusive and sustainable growth”, the State Government has designated the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) for “conducting studies and analysing socio-economic and developmental phenomena” to prepare the draft approaches, the report said.
The State, on the lines of the Government of India, has decided to strengthen the planning process by creating space for contribution by professionals having expertise in different sectors of economy by evolving a common interface to suggest various strategic alternatives, it said.
With an objective to make the consultations more inclusive and meaningful, it shall be ensured that civil society organisations (CSOs), non-government organisations (NGOs), research organisations and representatives from industries, rural and urban local bodies will be taken on board, the report added.
With the focus of the 12th Plan likely to be on sustained growth and to achieve the desired targets, the Government is mainly focusing on productivity enhancement, the report said.
In order to ensure balanced and inclusive growth across different segments of society, the Government is mulling the development of skills and improving the living conditions of common people.
According to the report, the State plans to realise this by providing greater access to basic services like education, health, water and sanitation to the people, especially those living in interior and remote areas.
