Apex court asks panel to examine TN school book row

The Supreme Court today appointed an expert panel to examine the syllabus/text books for over two crore school children in Tamil Nadu sought to be altered by the Jayalalithaa Government as they reportedly eulogised the DMK, particularly MP Ms Kanimozhi.

A Bench of justices Mr B.S. Chauhan and Mr Swatanter Kumar, however, said the Tamil Nadu Uniform System of School Education Act 2010 would continue to be implemented for Class I and VI during the present academic session.

The apex court said the expert panel to be headed by the State Chief Secretary would submit its report within three weeks to the Madras High Court, which would pass appropriate orders.
