Foundry industry in West Bengal plans to form a core committee to work on behalf of members of the industry.
The committee will be responsible for communicating with foundry equipment manufacturers, suppliers, experts, consultants and advisers from India and abroad for mutual benefit of the foundry industry in the eastern region.
The formation of the committee is one of the key outcomes of the recent visit to China by some of the members of foundry industry in West Bengal, said a press statement.
A group of 25 members from the foundry industry and related ancillaries visited close to 12 foundries and ancillaries in China between May 8 and 18.
Committee’s functions
The committee members will be deliberating on the technicalities of the machines to be bought, upgradation of factories, initiating discussions with various departments of state government and R&D for foundries among others.
The committee will also explore the possibility of exchanging technical knowhow with their Chinese counterparts and look for areas of collaborations.
Kiswok Industries, Sett Iron Foundry, Bibhuti Engineering Works, Imperial Casting Corporation, Matrix Iron Foundry, AK IspatUdyog and Khaitan Iron Foundry were some of the foundries which took part in this visit.
The team also plans to participate in the 11th International Iron-Steel Foundry Technology, Machinery and Products Trade Fair to be held in September in Turkey.
