The West Bengal Government will help facilitate IT investors in the State with required clearances and by cutting back on bureaucratic procedures, the State IT Minister, Mr Partha Chatterjee said here on Friday.
Making an all out effort to woo IT investments, the Minister maintained that if required the Government would not hesitate to take "on the spot" decisions.
Necessary infrastructure was also being put in place to promote tier II towns such as Kalyani, Siliguri, Durgapur, Asansol and others as probable IT destinations (hubs).
"We assure you that all necessary help will be extended to investors. If required, on the spot decisions will also be taken depending on the urgency of the matter," Mr Chatterjee said. The Minister was speaking at the ground breaking (bhoomi puja) ceremony to mark the construction of the second phase of IT major Cognizant's Bantala campus.
This is the IT major's second campus in the city. The first campus being located in the satellite township of Salt Lake.
The second phase of the Banatala campus will have a constructed area of over five lakh square feet and employ over 5,000 people.
