The Special Court of CBI today sent Mr Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, Minister for Excise in Andhra Pradesh Government, to judicial custody till June 7.
The Minister had moved an application for bail following his arrest in the disproportionate assets case of Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, and clearances accorded to the latter in Vanpic projects.
The CBI produced him before the court today after five days of custody. After his judicial custody was extended till June 7, he was taken to the Chanchalguda jail.
The court has granted the status of a special prisoner to the Minister on his request.
The Minister in his bail petition had contended that he was being falsely implicated in the case by the CBI and raised the issue of his health.
He had mentioned that he needed constant care since he was having high blood pressure.
Through his counsel, the Minister had contended that he would be available for CBI probe and there was no need for any apprehension.
