Public sector oil marketing companies announced an increase in diesel price by Rs 0.95 a litre in Delhi with a corresponding increase in other states. The change is inclusive of state levies and will vary from state to state. Petrol price remained unchanged.
The increase is effective midnight October 15/October 16. After the change, the price of diesel in Delhi will be Rs 45.90 a litre.
"The current level of international prices and rupee-dollar exchange rate warrant a price increase, which is being passed on to consumers with this price revision," Indian Oil said in a statement.
"The movement of prices in the international oil market and rupee-dollar exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes," it added.
